Culture was the last thing on my mind this past weekend --- at least, Filipino culture in all in its permutations. What was on my schedule was a dvd marathon of korean movies I bought from Divisoria Saturday.
It was horrible going to Divisoria on a Saturday that the next time I go there for another dvd jaunt, I will go on a special leave from the office and shop to my heart's delight.
Joy and I bought a total of 9 korean dvds and most of them were must-sees on my list. Among those I've watched already, I really like Green Chair. Never mind that it is probably soft porn, but it gave hope to my ajjumma-ness/ manang-like state. The movie was about a really intense sexual relationship between a 32year old woman and a 19 year old boy/man. The story was flimsy (hey, maybe it IS softporn) and the characters were not fleshed out. I mean the boy was always there! Doesn't he have other 19year old concerns? School, friends, family? hobbies? All he provides is all too available sex. Not that I am complaining but... well, it would make it a stupendous movie if these details were looked into.
Segue to thoughts of longing. Sigh. I so wish my love life would blossom. It's been so long already that the excuse that the right one will come along--- just I wait --- is getting OLD. Oh well....
