The Ro-ro-ro your Boat Saga Begins

So eventually I find where the Asian Spirit (you fly an Asian, you land a spirit) ticketing office --- It's right inside the Greenbelt 1 Mall!!!

After a long wait at the ticketing office, I hurry off to the Rustan's mini-supermarket to get some eats for the long trip. I was in a hurry and the selection really limited so I only got a few items -- assorted Japanese rice crackers and candy plus some toiletries. So much for calm and relaxed.

When I left Rustans I immediately saw my nephew, Albert, or rather they saw me, and was able to whisk away to Batangas right away.

It wasn't such a bad ride to the Batangas port where we'd board the first ro-ro. The route was scenic outside of Manila and we got to ogle at the blossoming firetrees along the road. It took us two hours and something to arrive just in the nick. It was my first time to travel this way and I am glad I do not have claustrophobia.

The vehicles were lined up and parked so closely together that passengers from a vehicle beside us could not alight from their side. They had to either stay inside their van the whole trip(which they did) or pass through our van (which they thankfully did not think and do!).

It must be torture for Kuya Boy's new minivan because the whole trip we were using the aircon. Even when we were parked at the ro-ro to Mindoro. But if it's fine by him, better for me. It gave me a chance to catch some zzzzzzs on board somewhat comfortably. However, I had no idea this kind of sleeping accommodations will be the mode of this whole trip.

I was surprised that the journey was quite pleasant and that my nephew and niece were warming up to me. Before, Anciela and Albert were perfunctory, even a bit rude, in their communications. But the whole trip made us get to know each other more and develop friendship. This is but one of the best outcomes of this trip.

More tomorrow... hope I can get some pictures out!
