Who knew I would be able to enjoy my vacation?
It seemed that my vacation was to be difficult from the start, when I thought it would be just a piece of cake. When I finished my work last Wednesday, I was already conditioned to take it easy and coast along. I knew it would be a torturous journey (imagine being plastered in your seat for hours) so I didn't want to be unduly stressed.
The plan was to retire early on Wednesday -- buy my supplies and food for the long trip and then prepare my luggage. It is important to bring the right implements and be dressed for the beach! That was the plan, at least.
But then Madz invited me to the dress technical rehearsal of "Once on this Island" and it was just too good to pass along. I meant to watch the play anyway and was even willing to pay but eto na e. Libre. E di go!
So I watched the play and the verdict was...it was really good! The musical is really good in itself, the music moving and skillfully orchestrated (dapat lang --- naka-minus 1 e), the choreography effective (not unlike the packaged/ franchised version of the Broadway play), and the actors/ singers really good (although there were times when they were stiff -- particularly Raki Vega and Jeffrey Hidalgo, it was understandable and attributable to first night jitters).
Attending these performances are more a social event because most of the theater people come out and attend. And I got to meet a lot of nice theater people. I sat with Adriana Agcaoili. I made small talk with Ate Carme (whose niece was also in the play), and UP friends (Marge and Tuxqs), even Lasalle Greenhills Cue friends (Erwin Flores). All the fags and fag hags were there. Ang saya saya!
So, sa madaling salita, I got home late and was not able to do the "important" stuff I should be doing. Talk about procrastination. Anyway, I have the whole morning tomorrow, I tell myself.
I wake up early the following day as if preparing for work. I have to pack and then buy my return flight ticket and then buy my essentials. I thought I had it all together. I left for Makati around 11am to buy my ticket only to learn that I forgot my wallet --- when I was already in Makati!!! So I had to go all the way back to Pasig to get my darn wallet.
Sheesh! So, I had my wallet and got the requisite cash. Next step was to go to the Asian Spirit ticketing office to buy my ticket. Sounds easy and quick, no? HINDI! Nonoy & I went around for about 30 minutes trying to find the street where the Asian Spirit office and then finding the street only to find out that it isn't there and we have no idea where it is except that it is near the PAL Ticketing Office --- and I have no idea where the PAL ticketing office was!!!
to be continued....
