Amidst the confusion of preparations for my trip and on my way out to the van, the phone rang. An inquiry on the ref we advertised on Buy and Sell.
The caller (a man) asked a lot of questions which I answered perfunctorily. Like how old the ref was and why we were selling it, where we were located and the question that stomped me the most --- does it freeze? Naturally! I thought. Of course it had a freezer, so of course, whatever you put in the thingy would turn to ice. He kept repeating the question and I was getting annoyed and later by the minute. I could've turned over the phone to Manang but courtesy prevented me. When he asked about delivery and price negotiations, I told him I had to ask my mom and asked for his cellphone number. He also took mine.
On the way to Makati, Nonoy informed me that the ref was out of order and was not near freezing anything at its current state. I texted the man who was interested in the ref and told him about it. Next thing I knew, he was texting and flattering me... telling me that he would like to be friends. That he liked my voice. That my voice sounded nice and friendly.
Sheeesssh. I kid you not. I was creeped out. A bit flattered (I knew I had a sweet voice) but still, creeped out.
He insisted to call me so he can listen to my voice. It was a good thing I was on my way to the province and could only be contacted through my cellphone so I demurred. What would we talk about?! Anyway, he kept on and on how he already liked me! Imagine that? How can one tell if one likes somebody just through a simple phonecall --- a ref inquiry at that.
We texted each other. I replied to his messages because despite being incredulous, I was intrigued with this brash soul. He said that he worked for a government hospital in Manila --- just a plain employee, take note, and not a nurse or doctor. Hmmmphh. I wanted to find out if this person was nice looking or resembled Kim Seong-su of The Sweet Sex and Love, who played a really sexy caregiver...
Oh well...
Yesterday he texted me to invite me out for lunch. Buti na lang I was out and only read it after lunch. I apologized, of course, because he said that he waited for my answer only to find out that I've eaten already. So, last text I received from him, he said he wanted to meet up and talk. He even called me 'mahal'!!!! Yuck. As in 'mahal' - unano?!!!
So far, I haven't received any messages from him. If he isn't as cute as Kim Seoung-su, then he better not na lang.
