Today is All Soul's Day but instead of praying for our dear dead, I am at work and contemplating budgets and whatnot. I am thinking of no soul, not mine even.
I have wanted to go to a cultural event a day but I haven't been too successful so far. Since my last posting I have been to the Mekong Arts recital at the PETA Theater Center and although it was a cultural event, it was a cop-out because I'm a PETA member.
Anyway, I enjoyed the Friday Mekong showcase and the groups had very interesting and well-performed pieces, at least those that I've seen --- was late for 45 minutes. There was variety in the groups as there was a dramatic group from Vietnam, which I wasn't able to see but I heard from my organizer friends that they were "maarte"; a good dance group from Thailand which presented a piece on abuse against women; another theater group from Thailand which was so funny; and a group from Cambodia which fused circus and theater. The revelation for me that night was learning the 5 or 6 year old looking kid was actually 25 years old! yipes!
My bosses were also there but they left a little bit after cocktails to attend Kitchie Nadal's concert.... hmmmm.... they missed Noel Cabangon's set. now that was fun. Never mind that i received sad news... my married friends are getting an annulment after less than 10 years... would that be the seven-year itch?
Anyway, I danced my cares and 3 big glasses of San Miguel Draft beer away (yay! oktoberfest!). As usual, I forgot my digicam and had no souvenirs of the night, how I danced with the dancers from Cambodia and felt like the belle of the ball (that's what alcohol does to you...)
That was the most notable thing that happened to me. The rest are small pleasures, like finishing the Japanese series, "Beautiful Life" (Takuya Kimura is my new crush!); ukay ukay foray with my sisters, starbucks with them, pizza with my Tita Bel, Jinjoo and Raul (who had his stomach varicose veins removed ---- that was a first for me... varicose veins on the stomach...)
