My boss was there as part of the international group which gave PETA the first ever Japan Foundation Award for any Philippine group/ individual for exemplary achievements in promoting international cultural exchange. Wish I could draw his reaction when I told him, "sir, don't be surprised that nobody from PETA might be there." Who accepted the citation from GMA, well, Cecile Guidote-Alvarez, PETA founder and Dr. Alejandro Roces, former PETA Chairman of the Board. Oh well.
There were a lot of side stories, like the Thai Ambassador who didn't know what the heck was going on at the Palace; or the really mediocre performance from the cited choir, Coro Cantabile ... I shouldn't be putting down a fellow Filipino artist/ group but I couldn't put it any other way... why cite them? why not give due credit to UPSA instead? Tell me why?
Oh, and although i really don't like how people treat those manning reception when their names aren't in the list... but it was such a big irritant when our names weren't on the list in Malacañang... and the ignorami in the reception were kinda lutang... hello, shouldn't we be on the list? we're the group who gave PETA the award... I mean, I shouldn't be bearing this angst until now if they didn't make such a big deal looking for our names and declaring that we weren't there. what should've we done? ay, wala ba? e di thank you, aalis kami?!!! WTF !
Anyway, the pro (hy-PRO-crite!!! hehehe) that I am, magkasama pa rin kami sa picture. Here's proof:

This is the President with the two trees...er... Ms. Earths --- in fairness, they're pretty and TALL!
My friend asked me what was so historical that I had to go to Malacañang--- hey, if the President goes on like this, she might be history sooner than we think...
I met my friend after work, making lambing, asking to be treated for coffee... it was great talking with her after some time. Although, she's caught up with the joyous rapture of her new relationship... sometimes, i want to blurt out, oo na! masaya ka na dahil may boyfriend ka na, at ako wala! but no, because i really am happy for her she found someone who can take care of her, and i'm just a bit jealous. hehehe.
Anyway, aside from free coffee, i got a free ride home, courtesy of my friend's boyfriend. How convenient. The ride home with them was full of telling details, like the guy's a rocker and he's kinda type A like my friend. How compatible. Like two peas in a pod... Enough with that!
I'm feeling out of sorts again. Need to find my balance. I have to sort out some late payments due me from my "other life".
