Got home early. Might as well for all the grievance that the trip to customs gave me. Although, come to think of it... it wasn't so bad --- because we had money. What if we didn't have funds?
This facilitation thing for or Japanese artist is really the affairs of our grantee. I am kinda pissed because as far as we are concerned, these things --- negotiating with the gallery, preparing the exhibit, and soothing artist's feelings --- are not the jurisdiction of the grant-giver. Sheesh. Things are really mixed-up.
And there are things that I have already missed --- or so my boss thinks. He assigned me to prepare a flyer which needed some information which could not be given to me for 2 weeks because a co-worker was absent for 2 days, and then next the other boss was absent for the whole week! Eh sa kanila ko lang ma-coconfirm yung mga schedules and titles! Add to that, my co-worker is preparing to resign. The same co-worker who is handling that particular project.
I am trying to pooh-pooh this matter at the moment, but I am sure, it will be another bout of adjustment. I hope that his post will be filled soon as he is handling quite a number of projects.
Sheesh. Back to customs.
When I collected the packages at the post office --- all 8 boxes --- I was expecting a nightmare. I mean, I've always thought that it was customary at the customs to have under-the-table dealings. Maybe it was the way i dressed ( I purposely overdressed --- thank goodness I had my poncho) that I think the people there paid attention. True I had to walk a block to have my i.d. photocopied (at a dank, dark corner at the lto), and walked back to collect a fax message from the post office customer care (thankfully, for free), but all in all, it was bearable.
The exhibit better be good.
